…how middle class ‘liberals’ cease to be quite so ‘liberal’ when their own interests are threatened?

Yes, again, but what exactly did you have in mind?

Just wanted to drop by to say that I think a lot of your points over at the “other” blog were well-reasoned and fair enough. I myself don’t like any representation of people suffering from mental illness – “sandwich short of picnic”, “nutter” – and indeed, a lot of the opinions of people there are pretty unpleasant.
What I want to say is that you are defending someone who a) uses hate language for the mentally ill, and b) considers herself entirely sane (which makes what she says rather indefensible, if you look closer, perhaps?)
I want to stay out of the threads, for the main, but I wanted to say just that.
Best wishes.

And just one example of an FJL-penned blog, which is absurd, childish and ridiculous of course, but I am pretty sure the author is fine with it since she refers to it on her blog –
http://clairwil-goes-nuts-again.blogspot.com
Silly, perhaps, in itself, but not when you look at the sheer amount of such activity online.
Creating a website such as http://www.djh-graphics.blogspot.com is a very nasty thing to do, isn’t it?
Especially considering it uses my business name. Now my point is, I want to move away from such things, rather than get re-involved which – I admit – is seriously bad for my own mental health.
Of course it is not even true – and I had to google this “poem” to find out who wrote it. As for the picture, just one of many life drawings I created whilst at art college. I am sure you would prefer others such as
http://www.djh-graphics.com/personal/drawings.html
I hope you can sympathise to some extent, and I am writing to you because based on your other writings, I believe you to be a decent person.

PS I didn’t mean “author” – I meant “subject”.

Finally, I would be very happy to chat with you about it on the phone, but I don’t want to post my number. I am sure you could use your “nous” and if so, then that would be fine by me. I think it is worth discussing such things without being at loggerheads, and polarising opinions as increasingly tedious threads seem to be doing, which is simply not the point!

I can sympathise. I have seen a case like this before- on Usenet. The Strange Case of Kevin K. He was based in the US – a perfectly reasonable and helpful member of an ED self-help group who suddenly snapped. He was from Madison County, Wisconsin. He plea bargained and his conviction was downgraded to a misdemeanor rather than a felony. He was fined and forced into treatment. It seemed to work. However, as I have said, no one commented on his appearance or suggested that he prostitute himself. And I have a pretty good idea why that was.
The group didn’t survive and is now moribund. (Actually, it seems to be pro-ana.) I’m not sure I like what the internet has become. It’s too vast and unmanageable.
